Registration process

Here’s a clear overview of the registration process for the maritime and shipping courses (Certificate, Foundation Diploma, Advanced Diploma) offered through ICS College / East Africa Institute of Certified Studies, under the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers East Africa:

📝 Step‑by‑Step Registration Guide

1. Choose Your Course

Decide whether you want to enroll in the Certificate, Foundation Diploma (FD), or Advanced Diploma. Review entry requirements and course content via the ICS prospectus or website.

2. Check Entry Criteria

Ensure you meet the entry requirements—typically a secondary school qualification for Certificates and Diplomas. Other options, such as Artisan courses, are available for those who don’t meet academic criteria.

3. Select Your Mode of Study

Options include:

  • Full-time (day classes)

  • Part-time (evenings)

  • Saturday/weekend classes

  • Distance/virtual learning (with online resources and monthly branch visits)

4. Obtain and Complete Application Form
  • Forms available from campuses (e.g. Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nakuru, Thika)

  • Also downloadable from the ICS website or requested via email

5. Submit Supporting Documents & Form

Include:

  • Academic certificates (e.g. secondary school)

  • ID or passport copy

  • Passport photo

  • Payment details

  • Next‑of‑kin information
Payment via bank transfer or M‑PESA is accepted.

6. Pay Tuition Fees

You must pay the required fees. For courses 6 months and longer, a tablet PC and free computer course may be included if a minimum payment (e.g. KSh 20,000) is made during the first month of study.

7. Online Student Portal Access (if Distance/Virtual)

Once registered, students can log into the ICS “cimsportal” to complete course registration, view calendars, access results, pay fees, manage deferment and more.

8. Attend Campus Orientation or Online Induction

Depending on your study mode—attend initial in-person sessions or virtual orientation from your branch.

9. Begin Course

Classes (in‑person or online) will begin based on your selected mode. Branches typically have monthly intakes, so enrollment is quite flexible.
